Can’t Find a Job?

Ok here's what to do if you aren't having luck with finding a position yet:

  • Don't get discouraged if you don't get hired as a dental assistant right away. It often takes numerous interviews to secure the job that is best for you.

  • Keep reviewing your main procedures.

  • Prior to going for a job interview, do a mock interview with friends or family. This will help you get a realistic idea of how to find a dental assistant job when you are in the interviewing process. It will also make the actual interview less stressful by preparing you on how to conduct yourself when talking to interviewers. Things like: tell me about yourself, what are your strengths and weaknesses. Here's a link to beating nervousness as well: https://pin.it/dtorvwekes3biv

  • Actually walking in to a dental office and handing a great resume in with a smile goes a long way. Dress up, be professional and friendly. Smile! Pretend you won 10 grand right before walking in.

  • When you interview, come prepared having done research on the office website and Facebook page. Make sure your Facebook page is professional and/or private also!

  • Call to follow up with the dental offices that interviewed you or one that you dropped off a resume personally.

  • Be polite and show appreciation, and ask to be informed of their decision. If they're still deciding, write a thank you note and take a treat or a plate of cookies in to drop off. That's a show stopper in dentistry!

  • Keep your skills up! Pass instruments (or pens!) with a willing person. See if you can do a couple extra hours at your externship to keep things forefront in your mind.

  • If you're not getting any calls or feedback, it may be something on your resume that is off-putting, or simply could be enhanced. If so, send it to me, let's make it awesome!

  • Let's chat one on one if you need guidance, we are always here for you!

  • Keep in touch with me too since offices reach out to me for hiring! Also here are websites listed, with links for you to have easier access.
